Constitutional Amendments 2025

Secondary constitutional amendments must be submitted to conference@eastlibdems.org.uk by 6pm on Tuesday 11 November.

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT A

Seconded: Jacqui Morley

Insert new section 4.2 (f) after section 4.2 (e) and reletter subsequent sections:

(f) one representative, nominated by and from local parties in areas not covered by county co-ordinating committees. Where more than one nominee is put forward the Executive shall select one of the nominees to take up the role.

Add new section 8.1 (c)

(c) a representative nominated by and from local parties in areas not covered by county co-ordinating committees. Where more than one nominee is put forward the Regional Executive shall select one of the nominees to take up the role.

This amendment will give local parties in areas without county coordinating committees (currently Bedford, Central Bedfordshire and Luton) a specific representative on the Regional Executive.

In section 9.1 (a) delete “two” and insert “three”

In section 9.1 (b) delete “two” and insert “three”

In section 9.1 (d) delete “two” and insert “three”

In section 10.1 (a) delete “two” and insert “three”

In section 10.1 (b) delete “two” and insert “three”

In section 10.1 (c) delete “two” and insert “three”

This amendment will increase the size of the Campaigns Committee from seven to ten and the size of the Development and Membership Engagement Committee from six to nine. This will improve representativeness and make inquorate meetings less likely. The Candidates Committee, Conference Committee and Policy Committee already have up to nine members.
